Caritas India Trains 31 Safeguarding Resource Persons Across India
This Training of Trainers (TOT) program was held in The Sarvodaya Capacity Building Centre was held from 13th to 15th May 2026. The training brought together participants from Jharkhand, NorthEast , Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka region along with the Caritas India
Team. With the completion of the three-module process, 31 participants have now been trained as regional Safeguarding resource persons who will further support dioceses, Church institutions, and social ministry organizations in strengthening Safeguarding practices and
awareness at different levels.
His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias , Archbishop Emeritus of Bombay conducted sesion on the implementation of Vos Estis Lux Mundi. Through practical examples and reflections, he stressed the importance of accountability, Justice, compassion and responsible institutional
response in Safeguarding matters.
Sr. Arina Gonsalves RJm , Members of the Pontifical Commissionfor the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults and Executive Secretary of St. joseph's Safeguarding Centre shared perspective on emerging safeguarding initiatives across Asia and encouraged stronger collaboration among Church Institutions to create Safer Environments for Children and Vulnerable adults.
Fr. Jervis D'Souza, Director of the St. Joseph"s Safeguarding Centre facilitated a session on Safeguarding procedures, institutional good practices.
Mr. Shirsh inamdar conducted a session on Digital Safety.
Certificates were awarded to participants who successfully completed all the three modules.
His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias along with Fr, Benny Edayath, Assistant Executive Director of Caritas India gave the Certificates to the Participants.
